On today’s episode we are joined by Bill, Anna & Miles Wirtel of Santa Fe Stoneworks, a company that creates fine handcrafted stone inlay knives.
Bill began working in this industry 40 years ago and over time Anna and Miles eventually found themselves working at their father’s business. Bill had them start at the bottom and work their way up, and that’s exactly what they have done. Santa Fe Stoneworks has now grown into a full-fledged family-oriented business, including themselves and 14 employees.
With this close-knit family atmosphere, Santa Fe Stoneworks has been able to continue crafting unique, one of a kind, stone inlay knives. They now create knives that range from $40 to $600 and have created knives for big businesses, such as Harley Davidson.
This week on Small Business War Stories, Bill, Anna, & Miles Wirtel join us from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Three reasons to tune in this week:
- Discover what it is like to run a business with your family.
- Learn how Santa Fe Stoneworks gained a valuable employee through apprenticeship.
- Learn how different materials, such as dinosaur bone, are used to craft beautiful knives.
