Recspec: Running a Design Studio and Art Gallery in Austin, TX | Laurel Barickman

Today we are joined by Laurel Barickman of Recspec, a design studio and art gallery in Austin, Texas.

Laurel began teaching herself Photoshop and editing techniques when she was fourteen years old. By the time she went to college, she felt she knew enough about design and decided to major in film. While in school, she was a designer for her university and was able to gain real-world experience in design.

After college she began working as a bartender in Austin and was able to begin creating posters and branding for venues and bars around town. This lead to her freelancing and being able to work for herself for the past ten years.

This week on Small Business War Stories, Laurel Barickman joins us from Austin, Texas.

Three reasons to tune in this week:

  • Discover the ways Laurel networks and acquires projects without any advertising.
  • Learn the pros and cons of utilizing freelancers in your business.
